Rib Coasteering Adventures

Rib Coasteering Dartmouth A few years ago we decided to combine Coasteering with our rib and came up with the Rib Coasteering Adventures. We have now been copied a few times but we are still the original Rib Coasteering adventure company. We pride ourselves that we never side step safety for fun and so we always use advanced commercial endorsed RYA skippers to drive our boats and we have have personally seen to it that all our Coasteering instructors are trained to the highest standards provided by the new Coasteering charter.

Our original Coasteering Rib adventures are still the best and safest by far. Our ribs have been equipped to cater for Coasteering from rib boats in multiple ways as we have discovered the best ways of ensuring that everybody boards the boats from the water in a quick and safe manner should the need arise. Our new rib “Red Quest” has been designed specifically in mind to be able to handle a multitude of situations.

We have also assessed all the environmental impacts of Coasteering in the area and have set ourselves clear standards with regards to the locations that we use in order to have a minimum impact to that area. If you are thinking of booking a Rib and Coasteering fun then give us call 01548 842 276. Rib Coasteering is a great stag party adventure

We offer Coasteering on our rib from both Dartmouth and Salcombe

Salcombe Boat Trips

An eventful weekend as our new rib “Red Quest” is launched for the first time. Red Quest is 7.8 meter Ribquest built in the UK  to our own specification. Red Quest can carry 12 people in super comfort and safety along the coast. During our sea trials this weekend we were delighted with the super sea keeping abilities of this rib boat and are really looking forward to putting Red Quest to work on our new coastal cruises and boat trips along the South Devon coast. Our boat trips will be departing from Whitestrand on a daily basis and will be great fun for all the family and any groups or any individuals. We shall cruise out of the estuary and then head up towards Start point Lighthouses depending on the trip duration. During the trip we shall open up the throttle  for a few thrills on the way.

The RYA Marine VHF Radio Training Course in Salcombe Monday 20th February

RYA Radio TrainingThe RYA Marine VHF Radio Training Course in Salcombe Monday 20th February

A one-day course for anyone who owns a fixed or hand-held marine VHF radio.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC)  equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand-held equipment using International channels.

A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. Unnecessary transmissions could block out a Mayday distress call.

All new VHF sets are either fitted, or can be interfaced, with DSC allowing calls to specific vessels. If you hold the ‘old’ VHF licence (pre-1999) you need to upgrade your qualification if you purchase new equipment. This can be done by attending this one-day course or, if no tuition is required, you can enter for direct examination.

Course topics include:

  • the basics of radio operation
  • the correct frequencies (channels) to be used
  • distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures
  • making ship to shore telephone calls
  • Digital Selective Calling (DSC) using simulators
  • Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)
  • Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)
  • Search and Rescue (SART)

The course will be taught using radio simulators and will be examined by a short written test. Further Course details can be found at:
