Learn in a relaxed and fun way with out expert British Water Ski and Wakeboard instructors, who all have many years of experience but also really enjoy the sport.
Waterskiing/Wakeboarding and Banana Riding 2013
We have a great passion for teaching everyone to ski or wakeboard or both, and we do have a great location, ribs, equipment to teach with. Our logistics in Salcombe however mean that we really do have to aim our activity at groups of around 10 to cover the petrol, instructor and rib costs of getting out to location through the harbour and out into Starehole Bay. We have 2 ribs and have found the best combination is to take groups of 10 people on the 12 man rib,(2 seats for instructor and skipper) load it up with wetsuits, buoyancy aids, waterski’s junior, medium and large, our universal wakeboard and the 6 man banana. The cost to everyone on board is then divided by the hire of the boat fee per hour. This includes, petrol, instruction, wetsuits, ski’s, boards, banana ride.
The cost to hire the 12 man rib is £220 per hour and £55 for every quarter of an hour after. Ideally we take groups out who know each other to start with but as we do get some enquiries for individuals or small groups we try our best to collate similar groups and individuals together for hour slots.
This year we have a special system and are simply taking names and numbers of individuals and groups with only 2’s or 3’s or 4’s in, waiting till we get the list up to 10 and then suggesting a date and time that suits you all.
We do not start the clock for the hour until we are out in Starehole bay and will always make everyone on board aware of the time as it soon slips away when playing on the water.
If it is a beginner wanting to learn waterskiing or wakeboarding for the first time, from experience it will usually take around 30 minutes per person to have a short practical lesson in the rib first and then get in the water to ski/board.
We always have waterproofs and chocolate on board to keep everyone warm and happy.
